The Spirit of Resistance Woven into Every Stitch

When I started researching the women’s rights protests in the United States during the 1970s, I felt deeply moved by the courage and energy of that generation. It was a decade of transformation — women marched through the streets demanding equality, reproductive freedom, and the right to define their own futures. The Women’s Strike for Equality in 1970, the movement for the Equal Rights Amendment, and countless local protests marked a turning point where women’s voices became impossible to ignore.

But what fascinated me most was how fashion became part of that revolution. Clothes were no longer just something to wear — they became symbols of independence and self-expression. Women rejected rigid expectations and began to dress for themselves. Flowing fabrics, bold patterns, and unstructured silhouettes became acts of quiet rebellion — a visual statement of freedom.

This spirit has been a powerful inspiration in my own design process. When I create, I think about those women — their strength, their vulnerability, their belief that change was possible. I want my garments to carry that same message: that what we wear can reflect who we are and what we stand for.

In this collection, I’ve tried to weave the energy of that era into modern forms — silhouettes that move freely, textures that feel honest, and details that speak softly but with purpose. It’s my way of honoring the women who fought for our rights, and of reminding us that the fight for equality is still ongoing.

For me, fashion has always been a language — a way to express emotion, identity, and resistance. And just like in the 1970s, I believe it still has the power to inspire change.
